The Regional Social Inclusion Observatory operates with the aim of effectively monitoring and coordinating the objectives defined within the framework of regional planning and strategy for

identifying local needs in the fields of social protection, welfare and solidarity policies.
transmitting data and information to the IGS of the National Coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanism.
mapping and analysing the spatial dimensions of poverty and social exclusion.
In addition, the Observatory’s key responsibilities at the regional and local government level are to serve as a pillar for social inclusion across the Region. To achieve this objective, it promotes, in particular, the following actions:
a. Conducting an annual Regional Income and Living Conditions Survey in order to assess the impact of specific policies on improving the quality of life of the Region’s residents.
b. Developing and implementing monitoring tools and indicators to assess the social inclusion processes of beneficiaries of the Regional Social Inclusion Strategy (RSIS), particularly in matters relating to labour market integration and the development of economic activity.
c. Monitoring and recording social phenomena such as extreme poverty, over-indebted households, and other social challenges, with particular emphasis on vulnerable population groups.
d. Creating an online platform for recording poverty and social exclusion, as well as for collecting, processing and analysing aggregated statistical data and reports on social phenomena at regional and local level, while also supporting actions implemented under the Regional Social Inclusion Strategy (RSIS).
