Project Overview

The Regional Social Inclusion Observatory (RSIO) of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace serves as the regional monitoring mechanism for social inclusion and aims to:

a. effectively monitor and coordinate the objectives defined within the framework of the Regional Social Inclusion Strategy (RSIS),
b. identify local needs related to social protection, welfare and solidarity policies,
c. transmit data and information to the Integrated Geoinformation System (IGS) of the National Coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanism for Social Inclusion and Social Cohesion Policies,
d. record and map the spatial dimensions of poverty and social exclusion.

The RSIO plays a coordinating role in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of social policy issues within the Region's jurisdiction. More specifically, it collects and disseminates the necessary information, provides guidance to municipalities and regional authorities, and offers the required expertise.

The objectives of the Regional Social Inclusion Observatory are achieved through:

  • the studies and surveys it conducts,
  • the data it collects, processes and publishes,
  • information and knowledge dissemination activities,
  • the cooperation and communication network it develops with Community Centres and the social services of the municipalities within the Region,
  • the creation and development of an online portal.
